Marina Mirage on Wharf Street, is a busy, upmarket shopping and entertainment complex on Port Douglas Marina. There is an extensive range of prestigious international designer labels including Louis Vuitton, Loewe, Polo Ralph Lauren, Shed 6 and LaCoste. Australian labels include Coogi, Mussfeldt Design, Outback Club, Rivers, Kangarucci and Brian Rochford. There is a wide selection of restaurants, takeaway food outlets and bars as well as a nightclub licensed until 5.00am. Both Coral Coaches and the Sheraton Mirage Shuttle Bus can be picked up from the Marina. The Marina is also the base for Quicksilver Connections. Open from 9.00am-6.00pm every day. Macrossan Street is the main thoroughfare of Port Douglas and is home to a diverse assortment of fashion boutiques, souvenir shops and restaurants. Also found here are all the major banks, several real estate agencies, car and bike rental companies, hairdressers, beauty salons, natural therapy clinics, art galleries, tourist information and booking offices, post office, tour operators, bakeries, two pubs and a nightclub. There is also a doctor and dental surgery, a couple of solicitors' offices, an accountant and the Shire Hall. The Four Mile Beach end of Macrossan Street is a holiday apartment block precinct and there are several boutique-style hotels scattered along the street. Shops are open from 9.00am - 6.00pm, seven days though some stay open until 9.00pm during the high season. Coles Supermarket recently opened in Macrossan Street and is surrounded by a range of specialty stores and cafes. The complex also contains a pharmacy, doctors surgery, music shop and newsagent. Another supermarket, Franklins, is due to open by August 2000, close to the Four Mile Beach end of town. The Sunday Morning Markets at the park end of Macrossan Street are well worth checking out. Everything from clothes, books, souvenirs and handicrafts to massages, tarot readings and a freshly chopped coconut is on hand here. The markets are generally open from 8am till about 2.00pm.
