So, you've only one day to go out to the Great Barrier Reef and most sensibly you are keen to get down there amongst it and blow a few bubbles. Whether you are an already certified SCUBA diver or ready, willing and able to have a go and experience the thrill of an Introductory (or Resort) Dive, we here at DestinationEX have again, gone overboard to find out the best way for you to do it.
Comprehensively generalising, there is a reef tour waiting for you, your budget, your time limitations and your desires. There are boats which leave and get back early, boats that depart and return quite late, boats that linger longer and some which dart back to town in time to catch the banks and Post Office.
There are helicopters to zoom you out there and/ or back, or sailing boats which are quite often rather late as everyone is happy to leave the engine off and rely on the gentle breeze to cruise home. There are inner reefs reached by fast 'cats' in under an hour and outer reefs which are well over double that time away.
There are yachts to stride into the Coral Sea from, pontoons to plunge from and cruise boats with platforms to climb on and off. Specialised dive tenders will get you exactly where you want to be, whether it be islands and coral cays with white, sandy beaches to casually stroll down, or a blissful mainland rainforest lake. Check out the DestinationEX database for all the dirt on single day dives.
