Perhaps you've played this game before - get comfortable, relax and imagine you are somewhere else........ Silky, soft white sand supports your body, gentle dappled sunshine filters smoothly through the lazily swaying coconut fronds above........

Behind you the lush, verdant rainforest canopy shades a pristine crystal stream, flowing effortlessly through the prolific greens and passionate pastel hues reflected from the lush foliage, and a startlingly sapphire kingfisher flashes through serenely spiced fresh air.......

A faint, tender breeze peacefully ruffles the languidly lapping waves sensuously caressing the lonely beach you stretch out on, blessedly blissing out......

Below the enticing transparent aqua-green ocean, under an endlessly beautifully blue clear sky, myriad marine amazements and astonishing psychedelic fishes float and flit effortlessly amongst the curious coral wonder, all leisurely awaiting your perusal.......sigh.

Seriously, there’s less than fifty kilometres of coastline left where this is now a realistic scenario. Nevertheless, we do have in excess of 1,000,000 hectares of rainforest, the prime portion of the planet’s most sensational coral reefs, some of the world’s finest yet scarcely populated beaches, and a particularly pleasant and peaceful climate more often than not. But there’s more to it than this.......

More than the delightfully relaxed lifestyle, the carefree congregation of citizens from so many nationalities, the unrufflable semi-isolation we cherish, or the pure and healthy atmosphere any newcomer unrestrainedly revels in, here in Far North Queensland there is a palpable presence of a freely unfolding and unrestrained future. Maybe it won’t last, but it is here now.

In addition to unparalleled natural attractions, this region has world class restaurants, every sporting activity under the sun and warm, friendly people.

Cairns has everything a visitor would expect from a cosmopolitan city - interesting shops where you can browse for souvenirs to high fashion, cinemas, theatre, hotels, nightclubs, museums, art galleries and gardens.

That's why we live here.
